Ron Witherspoon
Georgia State University
Originally
from the bay area of San Francisco, now living in Atlanta for over
23 years, Ron Witherspoon enjoys creating the “art” of
black and white photography. He is an award-winning military photojournalist
who traveled North Africa, Central and South America documenting the
activities of American soldiers in action during peacetime.
When Ron was persuaded to submit his work to galleries for review and
exhibition by a photographer friend, his first fine art image submitted
for judging won
first place in the photojournalism category at the Black Gallery in Los Angeles. Since
his first solo show, Subjective Passions, Selective Visions, at MooBoo
Gallery in Oakland, Ron has shown at The Richmond Art Center, The llth
and 12th Annual Denver Black Arts Festival, The National Black Fine
Art Show, COLOR: The National Black Fine Art Exposition, and more.
After earning his Bachelor of Arts from San Francisco State University, and
20 years experience in corporate America, Ron has chosen to follow his passion
and is presently pursuing his Masters in Fine Art with a concentration in photography
at Georgia State University in Atlanta. He works as a commercial and independent
photographer based in Atlanta and creates images for publications, businesses
and organizations nationally while continuing his own work. |
