Long Island University

Paul Anthony Melhado holds dual master’s degree in counseling psychology and photography. He has been a practicing mental health professional since 1986 and a faculty member of the City University of New York since 1996. Paul’s original involvement in the arts was as a painter and print maker, studying at Queens College and the Art Student’s League. He spent the first ten years of his photographic career as a self taught artist before pursuing his MFA degree in photography. Since 1989 his work has been included in many group and solo exhibitions, including a major one person show sponsored by The Flushing Council on Arts and Culture and a Group show at the Queens Museum of Art. The artist makes black and white photographs to reflect upon the common place, the beauty that is inherent in the things around us, the ordinary.
