Jessica M. Kaufman
Massachusetts College of Art

Jessica Kaufman has recently completed her first year of graduate studies at Massachusetts College of Art. After graduating from Yale University in 1995 with a BA in American Studies and Art, she worked for several years as a commercial artist in New York and San Francisco. Her most recent artwork critically addresses the long visual history of the aestheticization of trauma and the concomitant loss of power. In doing so, Kaufman hopes to subvert that history by using her own aesthetic practice to transform this loss of power into an opportunity for reclaiming power.
