Christopher DiCicco received a BS in Media Technology from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. His commercial photography career ended in mid 1999 after embracing a desire to explore his spirituality through image making. He is currently completing an MFA at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
DiCicco’s work examines the connection between sight, dream, memory and metaphor in an effort to envision what is outside of direct knowledge. His imagery relies on the recombination of natural symbols carrying meanings related to biological exchange. By layering two or more of these symbols within a photograph, metaphorical meanings arise serving to relate objects in the natural world to mysteries of the realm of spirit. Multiple images of this nature form a particulate narrative structure in which the symbols can be linked, or interchanged between images, thus providing a rhythm structure deriving its power in part from all aspects of human visual process.
