From time to time, every artist faces the inevitable question: “So, what kind of art do you do?”  No matter how I reply, I always feel I’ve fallen far short of an adequate answer. This quandary is further complicated by the fact that I have a master’s degree in photography, yet I rarely use a camera. From my first year as a photography undergraduate, I found myself playing with images and ideas in such a way that I often felt limited by the traditional photograph; a tragedy of sorts, since I love traditional photography with a passion.I work with whatever medium best carries out my ideas (which tend towards the absurd, the surreal, and the satirical), and relish having a wide range of media at my disposal, whether a scanner and computer, a box full of thrift-store “junk,” a motorized mechanism, a dryer filter full of lint...
