Carol Golemboski
Virginia Commonwealth University

Carol Golemboski’s evocative photographs of mysterious objects vibrate with the energy of people who are conspicuously absent. Her often unsettling images address the suggestion of ghosts and lingering memories. Through sepia-toned photographs, manipulated with abstract marks, scratches, text and photograms, each image resonates with the presence of a person who is long gone or an incident that is forever lost in time.

After receiving a B.A. in art and communications from the University of Virginia, Golemboski moved on to earn an M.A. in art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.F.A. in photography from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a recipient of an Individual Artist’s Fellowship from the Virginia Commission for the Arts as well as a Graduate Fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Foundation.
