Audrey Mandelbaum
School of the Art Institute of Chicago
Audrey Mandelbaum is an artist and writer living in Chicago. She received
a BA in Liberal Arts from the Evergreen State College in 1989, and an MFA
from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1996, where she worked
primarily with photography and computers. Her current work documents
loneliness and longing in the text of personal ads and online chat rooms
in the interest of exploring the qualities of seductiveness and alienation
that speak to a broader cultural condition. Her work has most recently
taken a sculptural turn, grounded in a desire to treat photographs not just
as images, but objects. |
