Allan deSouza

Allan deSouza is a writer/artist currently living in Los Angeles.
His fiction and critical writing have appeared internationally in various
journals and anthologies. He was an active participant of the
Black Arts movement in Britain during the 1980’s and has exhibited
extensively in Britain as well as in the US, Canada, Cuba, the Philippines
and Germany.
His photography-based, mixed media installations construct fictional narratives,
examining the role of memory and histories in the formation of racial and
sexual identities.
He holds
a BA (Hons) from Bath Academy of Art in England, has participated in the
Artists In the Marketplace program at the Bronx Museum of Art, and in 1994
he completed the Independent Study Program (critical studies) at the Whitney
Museum of American Art. He received an MFA in Photography at UCLA.
