Barbara Lucero de Godoy Contreras

Barbara Lucero
de Godoy Contreras is originally from Northern New Mexico. She has
earned a Museum Studies Certificate from the graduate Anthropology program
while completing her MFA program. As a graduate administrator of the
Northlight Gallery, Barbara oversees the care of a 4,000 photographic print
collection and coordinates active exhibition schedule. Her curatorial
activity has focused on Latin American visual arts She organized the
Retratos Nuevo Mexicanos exhibition which featured the work of 15 New Mexican
photographers. This exhibition included work by Miguel Gandert and
Delia Montoya. Barbara also curated the first bilingual exhibition,
Arte
Latino en La Ciudad for Phoenix Visual arts Gallery.
During the summers Barbara teaches photography programs to inner city minority
youth for Xicanindio Artes, Arizona’s oldest Hispanic arts organization.
She was previously assistant director of the organization.
Working on
a long term collaboration with another Indo-Hispaña writer/artist,
Barbara continues to document Aztec dance ceremonies in Mexico and the U.S.
