Wei-Wei Jeng
Ohio University, Athens
Wei-Wei Jeng was born and raised in Taiwan and earned his BA in Mass Communication
at Fu-Jen Catholic University in Taipei. In 1990 he traveled to the United
States to continue his education. Jeng first studied in Ohio University’s
commercial photography program, earning his MA in 1991. After briefly working
in New York as a testing photographer for Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, he
decided to return to O.U. to search for new inspirations. Jeng struggled
through the transition from commercial to fine art photography and was conferred
his MFA in 1994. He finds that his status as “outsider” in this
culture provides an unique perspective for positioning himself in the contemporary
world and informing the process of self-identification. By occupying a marginal
point of view, Jeng creates his recent work with which he intends to challenge
the dominant mainstream ideology. |
