Bill Gaskins

Bill Gaskins began his formal art education and commitment to developing a vision in the visual arts, in the vocational school system of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His objective as a photographer has been to bring a more diverse image of African American culture to the viewer and the history of photography. As a critical voice, his reviews and essays have brought attention to contemporary and historical images produced by and about African Americans. Bill holds an MA from The Ohio State University, Department of Photography and Cinema, and is currently a Philip Morris Fellow in photography at Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore
