E.G. Crichton
California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland
E.G. currently
uses photography in combination with other media to explore historical
and
personal issues of sexual and gender identity. Her inspiration
includes many years of participation in passionate debates about who
is and who does what in the sexual scheme of things, as well as historical
and theoretical research. She says, "The art that most excites me
and that I seek to create myself, transcends formal "art" boundaries
to actively engage in social/community contexts." E.G. has lived
in San Francisco for twenty years, and has participated in Gay, Lesbian
and Leftist activities. She is also the founder and art editor of OUT/LOOK
Magazine, a National Lesbian and Gay quarterly published from 1988 through
1992.
