ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

We wish to acknowledge those who have made this year’s National Graduate Seminar a reality. Foremost we wish to acknowledge the Agfa Division of Miles, Inc. and Miles Inc. Foundation which provides financial support that makes it all possible. We wish to thank Dionn Tron, Vice President for Corporate Communication of the Afga Division who has offered advise and encouragement throughout the year. Thank you to John F. Graffigna, Agfa District Manager and to his staff at Agfa’s New York Imaging Center who arranged an afternoon of exploring the new technologies computers provide and their implications for artists. It was Mike Lindberg, Agfa computer expert, who answered almost all of the technical questions we could pose in one visit.

A special thank you goes to Dean Mary Schmidt Campbell, of Tisch School of the Arts and Patricia Hynes whose fundraising effort on our behalf are most appreciated. Thanks to Thomas Drysdale, Chair of the Photography Department for his daily advise and support. Thank you to Dean Peggy Wreen, without whose departmental support the Seminar could not have happened.

Tim Druckery, American Editor of Ten.8 magazine and NYU-ICP faculty member, Susan Cohen, Program Coordinator of Montage 93 and Fred Ritchin, NYU faculty member. offered valued advise in developing the computer segments of the 1992 Seminar. We have reproduced the reading list developed by Tim in the readings section.

Thank you to our jurors, Meridel Rubenstein, Michael Rovner, and Charles Traub. We were fortunate that Rebecca Lewis, a fine photographer and educator in her own right, freelances as a writer and editor. She transcribed and edited all the original program tapes. We would like to especially acknowledge Rachel Thull, API assistant program director who completed the final editing and formatting this year's Journal.

Additionally we owe thanks to Martha West of University of Arizona; former Fellows Eduardo Aparicio, Liz Chilsen and Tom Hintz; and NYU students Fladimir Yavachev and Keiran Best who staffed the 1992 program. We thank NYU Photography Department staff Kate Fallon, Jon Kline and Betsy Kershaw for all their special efforts on our behalf. Then there is Allan Harris whose unwavering encouragement helps keep us on track.

And finally to those who have served as advisors to the American Photography Institute over the last few years, Andy Grundberg, Deborah Willis, James Enyeart, Anne Tucker, Rod Slemmons, Carl Chiarenza, Nathan Lyons, and Peter Bunnel we wish to say thank you.
